QPR Suicide Prevention Training, April 1, 6pm in Owensboro

Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention is offered at the Logsdon Community Center on April 1, 2014 at 6pm-7:30pm; 2400 Friendship Place,  Owensboro KY 42303 (off of Byers Ave. near Menard’s)

This training is free & open to any interested person.  (Appropriate training for 16 years to adult.) Please email [email protected]  if you plan to attend so we know at tentative number attending. (You may attend if not pre-registered.) Our goal is for the Owensboro community to be more “suicide aware” and to assist this Region in having more QPR Gatekeepers.   We plan to offer this training at the Logsdon Center the first Tuesday of each month at 6pm-7:30pm.  Please mark this on your calendar & bring a friend, neighbor or co-worker!

QPR stands for Question, Persuade and Refer, three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide. Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. QPR is the most widely taught gatekeeper training in the world and more than 1,000,000 adults have been trained in classroom settings in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and other countries. The 90 minute curriculum teaches:
· How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide
· The common causes of suicidal behavior
· The warning signs of suicide
· How to Question, Persuade and Refer someone who may be suicidal
· How to get help for someone in crisis
