Owensboro Regional Suicide Prevention Coalition is pleased to announce that Judge Ginger Lerner-Wren with Broward County (FL) Mental Health Court will be the speaker. Date: Thursday, April 26, 2018; Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m. CST at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital Auditorium. All are welcome, but please take time to pre-register at the following link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2018Sprconf or call 270-316-2706.
Upon her election to the Broward County bench, Judge Lerner-Wren was assigned to criminal division. She was appointed by Chief Judge Dale Ross to pioneer and administrate the nation’s first Mental Health Court. Broward’s Mental Health Court innovation is a national and international model dedicated to the safe diversion of people arrested with mental illness and co-occurring substance disorders. The Court was showcased as a best practice by the U.S. Dept. of Justice. Judge Lerner-Wren has a new book coming out in March 2018, “A Court of Refuge”, the story of America’s first mental health court. We hope to have a book signing at the conference.
